Facilities Manager 

As a key member of a small team, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Geneva History Museum, Johnston House, and Rose Hill Mansion and accompanying grounds.  The position requires basic knowledge of historic preservation standards and experience with the management of physical property.  The position is part-time (up to 30 hours a week) and the salary is $20 per hour.  Benefits include paid time off (vacation, sick leave, and holidays), and contributions to retirement plan.

Training and Experience: Minimum two years’ experience with property management.  Working knowledge of the methods and practices of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and security tasks.  Basic skills with computers (Microsoft application), carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical matters. Experience in supervising outside contractors and consultants. Physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform a wide variety of job tasks. Familiarity working at a museum, historic site, or comparable setting preferred.

Specific Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Geneva History Museum, Johnston House, and Rose Hill Mansion and accompanying ground.  Duties include regularly examine the status of Historic Geneva’s buildings and grounds; use knowledge to make necessary, routine repairs; review and manage service contracts; arrange routine services; and serve as the primary contact with vendors and contractors. Manage facility-related projects by preparing scopes of work, locating, and receiving bids (or negotiating work) and overseeing the work of independent contractors.

Internship Opportunities

Rose Hill Mansion Internships

Interns are key members of a small team that is responsible for the ongoing interpretation of Rose Hill Mansion. Under the supervision of the Visitor Services and Programs Manager, interns will gain valuable, hands-on museum experiences.  Responsibilities may include leading guided tours, designing and installing exhibits, conducting a research project, and creating public programs and special events.  for a complete internship description, click here. The internship program is divided into three sessions – Spring (February to May), Summer (May/June to August), and Fall (September to December).   Academic credit can be arranged for students who complete a minimum number of hours per week, as determined by their academic institution.  Candidates who apply for the summer program are considered for paid positions.
