THE COURSE OF STUDY
Pursed in this Seminary, is embraced in the following departments:
FIRST DEPARTMENT.
FIRST CLASS.
Elementary branches of Spelling, Reading, Writing and Composition; Geography, Arithmetic, First and Second Book of History, Parely’s Greece and Rome, Child’s Astronomy, Botany, and Geology, per quarter, $4 000

SECOND CLASS.
The above, with Grammar, History of the United States, Goldsmith’s Ancient Histories, Robbins’ Universal History, Ancient Geography, Natural History, Comstock’s Physiology, Natural Philosophy, Progressive Excercises of Composition, and Wayland’s Abridgment of Moral Philosophy, per quarter, $5 00

SECOND DEPARTMENT.
JUNIOR CLASS.
Any of the above, with Rollin’s Ancient History and Chronology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Botany, Geology, Rhetoric, Mental Philosophy, Moral Philosophy, Natural Theology, and Ecclesiastical History, per quarter, $6 00

SENIOR CLASS.
Russel’s Modern Europe, Rollin’s History of Arts and Sciences, Science of Government, Political Economy, Logic, Kames’ Criticism, Alison on Taste, Evidences of Christianity, Butler’s Analogy, Algebra, and Geometry, per quarter $6 00

All the classes are instructed in Biblical History.

Weekly Compositions are expected from every Pupil.

It is desirable that one year should be devoted to each class in the second department.

At the close of the term, each pupil will receive a writ

ten Certificate specifying her studies, and general improvement. At the close of the year a printed one of like kind.

Those who have completed a regular course in the higher branches, will, after, due examination, receive a testimonial to that effect.

EXTRA STUDIES.
Music Lessons, per quarter, $10 00
French and Italian Languages, 5 00
Latin and Greek, 4 00
Drawing and Painting lessons, 5 00

BOARD.
In the Seminary, per week, $2 25
Incidental Expenses, including Bedding, Washing, Lights, &c. per week, 50
Use of the Piano Forte, per quarter 2 00

The whole expenses for board, washing, fuel, &c with tuition for a year, not including, extra studies, will amount to $ 146. Board during the vacation, not included.

One quarter’s payment in advance, on the board, is requested if not inconvenient. Deduction is made in case of illness.

The academical year is divided into two terms, consisting of twenty-two weeks each, with a vacation of four weeks between each term. The Summer term commences the second Thursday in May; the Winter term the second Thursday in November.

During the past year another building has been added to the Seminary, affording sufficient accommodation for more than sixty boarders. This affords also a convenient Hall for Lectures and Examinations.

A well selected library is provided for the use of the ladies.
