Event Rentals

Thank you for considering Rose Hill Mansion for your upcoming event.  Our spaces can be used for small weddings, business functions, family gatherings, retirement parties, or other occasions. A beautiful setting on any day, we are happy to work with you to ensure a perfect event.

Built in 1839, the Greek Revival mansion was once the center of a busy and productive farm.  Twenty period rooms have been restored in the Empire Style, popular from the 1820s to 1850s.  A magnificent view of Seneca Lake can be enjoyed from the front porch.

As a family home for one hundred and seventy-two years, Rose Hill has hosted a number of special events.  Among the events held at Rose Hill have been:

  • A Presidential Reception – As part his tour of the Finger Lakes region, President Martin Van Buren attended a reception at Rose Hill on September 7, 1839.
  • A Victorian Wedding – On March 28, 1883, Mary Swan, oldest daughter of Robert and Margaret Swan, married Wilhelmus H. Mynderse in one of the mansion’s parlors. After the ceremony guests enjoyed refreshments in the Dining and Breakfast Rooms and viewed the wedding presents on display.
  • Silver and Golden Anniversaries – Joseph Strong and his family were the last family to call Rose Hill home. In 1972 to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Joseph and his wife Betty held a reception at Rose Hill.  Seven years earlier, Betty’s parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Rose Hill.

Have your event become part of Rose Hill’s ongoing story.  The first floor of the mansion, the Carriage House Visitor Center and Gift Shop, and the surrounding grounds are available for events from May 1 to October 31.  Please view our Facilities Use Guidelines .
